Which year should you buy?
Pick a make and model. Every model year lines up with owner complaints ranked against the same model year, recalls, open NHTSA investigations, NCAP stars, fatal-crash involvement and EPA economy, and the best and worst year are called out.
Find the good years and the bad years before you buy
Every model has years to seek out and years to avoid: a redesign that shipped with a bad transmission, a facelift that fixed it, a year with a fire-risk recall. The scorecard puts the public record for every model year on one screen, from NHTSA owner complaints ranked against every other vehicle of the same year to recalls, open investigations, crash-test stars and fatal-crash involvement, so the pattern is visible without reading a thousand forum posts.
Raw counts favour old years and best-sellers. Ranking each year against every vehicle of the same model year removes the age bias, so a p98 is a p98 whether the car is three or thirteen years old.
NHTSA complaints, recalls, investigations, NCAP ratings and FARS fatal crashes, plus EPA fuel economy, all public domain and refreshed on their own schedules.
The same scorecard is GET /v1/insights/scorecard and the model_year_scorecard tool for AI agents, so your app or assistant can answer "which year" too.
