The US power boat database
marine teams can work with.
84,300 marine vessels from 50 manufacturers — hull type, horsepower, length, beam, dry weight, engine count and fuel type per record, plus U.S. Coast Guard recalls by builder. Search it in the workspace, or query the same records through the REST API.
Free plan includes the full workspace + 100 API calls/mo.
U.S. Coast Guard data
Recalls and builder codes from the Coast Guard
Boat pages list the recall campaigns the U.S. Coast Guard has on file for the builder, and the API decodes any hull identification number (HIN) with the accidents reported under it. In VehDB today: 1,697 USCG recall campaigns and 16,237 manufacturer identification codes.
Recalls on the boat page
The USCG campaigns filed under the make's manufacturer codes: this model year first, the campaigns that name the model flagged, each with its problem, boats affected and the HINs it covers.
Builder codes
The manufacturer identification codes (MIC) behind each make, the first three characters of every HIN, with the company the Coast Guard registered under each code.
HIN decoding
The free HIN lookup, GET /v1/hin/{hin} and the decode_hin MCP tool read a hull identification number: builder, build month and year, model year, the builder's recalls, the catalogue makes under its code and the hull's reported accident history.
Learn moreA recall is filed by builder and names the models and HIN ranges it covers, so check yours against it. A make whose code we could not confirm links to the Coast Guard's own recall search instead. Source: U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Boating Safety (public domain).
A marine spec workspace, not a brochure
Register, narrow 84,300 vessels to a working list, then export that shortlist.
Filter by marine specification
- Make, model and year range (1960–2023)
- Hull type — fiberglass, aluminum, composite and more
- Length, horsepower, fuel type and model type
- All filters combine to narrow results fast
Specs that matter on the water
- Overall length, beam and dry weight per vessel
- Engine count and total horsepower rating
- Hull construction and fuel type for material, range and cost decisions
- Consistent record structure across 50 manufacturers
Compare & export
- Side-by-side comparison in one table, up to 3 on the free plan and up to 10 on Pro
- Works across makes, hull types and size categories
- Export your shortlist or comparison to CSV on paid plans
- Saved searches with email alerts for new records
List worklist
- Save vessels to your lists with notes — refs, quotes, part numbers
- Track them as owned, wishlist or considering
- Read the same list via GET /v1/lists from your systems
- Or let an AI agent read it through the my_lists MCP tool

Marine data,
as JSON.
Marinas, brokers, insurers and marine-service tools query the same 84,300 vessel records through the REST API — same records, same UUIDs as the workspace.
- Filter and paginate power boats by make, year, hull type and fuel type
- Length and horsepower in every record for sizing and quoting
- GET /v1/boats/{uuid}/recalls — U.S. Coast Guard recall campaigns under the builder's codes
- GET /v1/hin/{hin} — builder, build date, model year and recalls from a hull identification number
- Simple Bearer tokens, plan-based rate limits, free tier included
- MCP server included — AI agents query boats, recalls and HINs as native tools
One platform, four datasets
Power boats are one corner of VehDB — cars, motorcycles and tire fitments live in the same workspace and API.
